Boston, MA (March 12, 2007) ProBuild Holdings Inc., the nation’s largest professional building materials supplier, announced today the adoption of a regional management structure that will facilitate efficient operations across the company’s national footprint. Each of the company’s ten current divisions will become part of one of four distinct regions: ProBuild North, ProBuild East, ProBuild South and ProBuild West. In addition, the company announced the creation of ProBuild Gypsum to focus support across this new regional structure for the growing business in gypsum, accessories, and steel framing.
As part of these changes, the company will establish four regional offices with ProBuild East in Charlotte, NC, ProBuild South in Tulsa, OK, ProBuild North in Winona, MN, and ProBuild West in Olympia, WA, where administrative and back office functions for each region will be consolidated. As part of these changes in organization, the company also announced that its corporate headquarters will now be located in Denver, CO.
“These changes will simplify the ProBuild organization, making it easier for our national and regional customers as well as suppliers of all sizes to do business with us,” said Paul Hylbert, ProBuild’s chief executive officer. “They also strengthen our organization because they will facilitate the sharing of best practices and increase our effectiveness and efficiency in providing marketing, financial, administrative, and IT support to the field.”
ProBuild also announced the promotion of four industry veterans from within its ranks to the role of regional president, each reporting to Ben Phillips, chief operating officer. Buddy Ables was named regional president for ProBuild East with responsibility for The Contractor Yard, Strober Building Supply and U.S. Components; Dave Dittmer was named regional president for ProBuild West with responsibility for Spenard, Lumbermens and Dixieline; Dale Kukowski was named regional president of ProBuild North with responsibility for F.E. Wheaton and United Building Centers; and Jim Cavanaugh was named regional president for ProBuild South with responsibility for Hope Lumber and Home Lumber. Additionally, the company named Rich Young president of its newly created ProBuild Gypsum group. Ed Waite will continue in his position as president of Spenard Builders Supply in Alaska; Joe Lawrence will retain the presidency of Dixieline but will also take on added responsibilities for growth in large metro markets in the West reporting to Dave Dittmer; Jeff Brown will retain the presidency of F. E. Wheaton and take on additional responsibility for growth in the metro markets of the North reporting to Dale Kukowski, and Dave Walstad will continue as president of U.S. Components reporting to Buddy Ables with responsibility for all the component plants in ProBuild East.
