Walstad Named Vice President of Advanced Component Technology
Denver, CO (September 12, 2007) ProBuild Holdings Inc., the nation’s largest professional building materials supplier, has announced the appointment of David Walstad to the position of vice president of advanced component technology. In this new role, Walstad will be responsible for overseeing ProBuild’s advanced component manufacturing technology activities.
“Component manufacturing capabilities are a critical element in ProBuild’s strategic growth plan,” said Ben Phillips, ProBuild chief operating officer. “Dave has a tremendous wealth of experience in component manufacturing that will be invaluable in our efforts to aggressively build upon our leadership position in this area.” In August, ProBuild announced its plan to build the industry’s first fully robotic truss assembly plant, slated to open in 2008. Phillips indicated that the company is also focused on the integration of manufacturing solutions across its facilities as well as overall cost efficiency improvements that will positively impact ProBuild customers looking for in-market access to high quality products at competitive prices.
Previously, Walstad spent nine years with the Strober Organization, a predecessor of ProBuild. During that time, he served as both vice president of manufacturing for the Strober Organization and as president and chief operating officer of U.S. Components, the company’s manufacturing division. Before joining the Strober Organization, Walstad served two years as vice president and general manager for Metal Components in Atlanta, Georgia and ten years as division manager for Stock Lumber in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
